Our Staff


Sammi Conner is the Director of Veteran Services and School Certifying Official for the VA. She has been with the University since 2007 and has a wide range of experience including financial aid counseling and academic advising. Sammi holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master's in Business Administration from UL Lafayette.

Ryan Gonzales is the Assistant Director of Veteran Services and Certifying Official for VA. Ryan previously worked in the Admissions and Recruitment Office working with Non-Traditional Students including Veterans.  He now brings that customer service and admissions process knowledge to our new and transferring veteran and military connected Students. Additionally, Ryan works closely with our Student Veteran Organization developing new events and helping recruit students to the SVO.  Ryan Is a 10 year Veteran of the US Army/LA National Guard serving as both a 19D Cavalry Scout and later as a Counterintelligence Agent. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and is certified to teach High School Social Studies. He also serves as Head Coach of the Six Time National Champion, Ragin’ Cajun Water Ski Team.

Siobhan Frain has been a student worker since the summer of 2016. She served honorably in U.S. Air Force from 2010 to 2016 as an Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Operator. While stationed at Hurlburt Field, FL from 2012 to 2016 she deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Overseas Contingency Operations. Siobhan is now pursuing a degree in Exercise Science and is a 200 hour certified yoga teacher for UL Rec Sports at Bourgeois Hall.

Rocky Menard has been a student worker with the Veteran Services office since the summer of 2018. He joined the U.S. Air Force in November 2010, and was an Aircraft Loadmaster on the C130J at Dyess AFB, TX.  He was a part of five deployments while on active duty to parts of Afghanistan, Germany, Japan, and Africa. Rocky has now transitioned to the Air Force Reserves out of Biloxi, MS at Keesler AFB. After his honorable discharge from active duty, Rocky proudly joined the Ragin’ Cajuns family and is currently pursuing a degree in Sports Management.
